Red Sox Getting 42% Of World Series Bets At BetMGM In Massachusetts
The Boston Red Sox are receiving 42% of the MLB World Series winner futures bets at BetMGM in Massachusetts, as well as 41% of World Series futures handle in the state.
That’s according to BetMGM PR data analyst John Ewing, who shared the Massachusetts numbers with Play MA on Monday.
Because of the sheer volume of Red Sox betting in Massachusetts, Boston is currently the biggest MLB liability at BetMGM nationwide. The Red Sox have the 12th-worst World Series odds in MLB (+6000), yet they have the app’s seventh-highest handle percentage and eighth-highest total bets percentage.
And, again, that’s thanks to the legalization of Massachusetts online sports betting. Remember the 42% and 41% numbers? Well, across the country, Boston is receiving only 4.8% of total World Series winner futures bets and 5.9% of the handle.
Where do Boston’s World Series odds stack up?
The Red Sox currently have the fourth-best odds to win the World Series in the American League East at BetMGM. The Yankees have the best odds at +800 — tied for third-best in all of baseball with the Dodgers. Next is the Blue Jays at +1200 and the Rays at +2000. Then, the Orioles scrape the bottom of the AL East barrel at +6600 on BetMGM Massachusetts.
Overall, the Mets are drawing the highest total bets percentage (9.4%) and handle percentage (13.7%) on BetMGM. They’re tied with the Padres for the fifth-best odds in the league at +900. The Padres and Yankees fill the other two spots in the top three of total bets and total handle — with San Diego second in total bets and New York second in handle.

Boston fares a bit better when it comes to individual awards odds at BetMGM.
Masataka Yoshida, the Japanese superstar Boston signed to a five-year, $90 million contract in the offseason, is getting the highest ticket percentage (28.1%) and betting handle (27.6%) for American League Rookie of the Year futures on BetMGM.
Yoshida currently has the second-best AL Rookie of the Year odds at +600. Baltimore third baseman Gunnar Henderson is the favorite at +250.
