Why the Celtics are driving so much betting handle in Massachusetts

The significant difference in Massachusetts Celtics betting vs. Celtics betting across the country boils down to two things.

First of all, Boston sports fans are intense. We all know this. So, yes, they’re intense in MA online sports betting, too.

Second, this is a rare circumstance where a passionate fan base finally has the opportunity to place legal bets on their team, and their team just so happens to be the NBA Finals favorite. Add strong sports devotion to favorable odds, and you get lots and lots of money spent wagering on a team.

Current Celtics NBA finals futures odds at BetMGM are +310. Second-best odds belong to the Milwaukee Bucks, at +400.

Other Celtics futures odds at BetMGM

If Massachusetts bettors are interested in other Celtics futures, BetMGM gives them +180 odds to win the Eastern Conference and -600 odds to win the Atlantic Division. It also gives Boston star Jayson Tatum +4000 odds to win NBA MVP. Those are the fourth-best odds in the league, behind Nikola Jokic (-200), Joel Embiid (+225) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (+700).

BetMGM Massachusetts is one of six sports betting apps currently available in the Commonwealth. The other five are DraftKings, Caesars Sportsbook, WynnBET, FanDuel and Barstool Sportsbook.

BetMGM has partnered with former Celtics legend Kevin Garnett, featuring the Boston sports celebrity in its sportsbook advertising in Massachusetts and across the country.
