According to the monthly revenue report for casinos in Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) disclosed that MGM Springfield experienced a decline of approximately 6.5% in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for September compared to the figures in August.

MGM Springfield witnessed a decrease in its gross gaming revenue (GGR) from $22 million in August to approximately $20.6 million in September, resulting in a precise revenue decline of $1,421,183.63.

September Revenue Breakdown

In September, MGM Springfield’s slot machines brought in a total of $16,358,042, whereas in August they generated $17,518,085. Similarly, the casino’s tables collected $4,213,605 in September, slightly lower than the $4,474,746 collected in August.

In summary, the total gambling revenue generated by the state’s three retail casinos, including Encore Boston Harbor and Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), reached around $94 million. This amount represents a $2 million increase compared to August, primarily attributed to the growth in gambling revenue at Encore Boston and PPC.

In September, the resort casinos were subjected to a 25% tax on Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR), while the Personal Property Class (PPC) was taxed at a rate of 49% by the state. MGM Springfield, for instance, contributed $5,142,911 in taxes during this period. Consequently, the combined tax revenue generated by the three casinos amounted to around $26.5 million for September.
