Tax Revenue Trends

Any decreases from December to January are to be expected. The holidays in December make it usually one of the stronger months on the calendar for casino revenue.

So the 1.7% increase must have been a delightful little surprise for MGM Springfield. Could that be because Massachusetts sports betting launched Jan. 31, and that brought a flock of new gamblers to the casino to round out the month?

That will be a trend to watching moving forward for all three casinos: Will increased foot traffic from the sportsbooks positively affect overall casino revenue? The casino revenue and sports wagering revenue numbers are reported separately.

The MGC reported Wednesday that the three MA sportsbooks took in more than $510,000 in sports wagers on Jan. 31.
