Joey Levy, the CEO of Betr, has provided an update regarding the anticipated launch of the microbetting platform in Massachusetts.

Originally, the company had intended to commence operations on Friday, coinciding with the opening of the Massachusetts online sports betting market. However, a delay occurred, and the company’s initial statement mentioned a launch timeframe within the next month.

Instead of keeping hopes up for a late March launch, Betr has decided to aim for an April launch instead.

On Friday, Levy tweeted, expressing our commitment to prioritize delivering the best possible experience for our potential customers. Therefore, we aim to make sure that everything is well-organized before going live.

What is Betr?

Betr, a microbetting platform, was co-founded and promoted by Jake Paul, a famous YouTuber and boxer. It has obtained licenses in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Virginia, and is currently operational in Ohio.

Betr stands out as the sole US sportsbook exclusively focused on microbetting, which offers an even more rapid and real-time experience compared to traditional live betting. Rather than wagering on the outcome of an entire game, Betr empowers its users to place bets on specific moments like an at-bat, field goal attempt, pitch, penalty kick, and numerous other events.

Once Betr MA is launched in Massachusetts, new customers can anticipate receiving a welcome promotion of $50 in bonus bets. Additionally, a free-to-play version of Betr is accessible nationwide.

Massachusetts online sports betting

On Friday, the Massachusetts market welcomed six operators as online sports betting was officially launched. This exciting development allows sports enthusiasts in Massachusetts to engage in sports betting through popular platforms such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, WynnBET, and Barstool Sportsbook. To kickstart their betting journey, users can take advantage of signup bonuses offered by these operators.

According to existing legislation, up to 15 online sports betting apps are permitted in Massachusetts. Presently, out of the 11 mobile licenses that have been granted, PointsBet has decided to withdraw its application and will not be entering the Massachusetts market.

Assuming Betr remains on track for its April release, it will become the seventh entry in the state. Fanatics Sportsbook aims to launch in MA in May, alongside Bally Bet. As for Betway, their launch is scheduled for January 2024.

Besides online betting, retail sports betting has been operational for more than a month, allowing individuals to place their bets at three casinos namely Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield, and Plainridge Park Casino.
