What BetMGM Gains From Boston Red Sox Sports Betting Partnership
The first major professional sports betting partnership in Massachusetts is official: BetMGM has inked a sports betting deal with the Boston Red Sox.
We’ve long talked about sportsbooks locking in relationships with Boston’s pro sports teams to help boost their apps in Massachusetts. But … how exactly does this Red Sox partnership help BetMGM Sportsbook Massachusetts?
How BetMGM benefits from Red Sox partnership
According to a press release from BetMGM, here’s how:
- BetMGM will get signage at Fenway Park, including on the Green Monster
- There will be a BetMGM suite at Fenway Park
- Curated VIP fan experiences for BetMGM customers that include:
- Access to batting practice
- Appearances from past Red Sox players
- Participating in the first pitch
- BetMGM and Red Sox digital platforms and social media accounts will promote co-branded content
“The Red Sox are one of baseball’s most beloved organizations and we’re thrilled to bring BetMGM to their passionate fans,” BetMGM CRO Matt Prevost said in a statement. “We look forward to working together to elevate the gameday experience in Boston.”
Relationship dates back to MGM Springfield
MGM Springfield, where the retail BetMGM Massachusetts Sportsbook is located, was already the official casino sponsor of the Red Sox. So the two parties have a longstanding relationship.
“The Boston Red Sox are proud to partner with BetMGM as we prepare to enter a new era of professional sports betting in Massachusetts,” Red Sox Executive Vice President of Partnerships Troup Parkinson said in a statement. “Given our strong relationship with MGM Resorts, BetMGM was the clear choice to become the first sports betting partner of the club, and we look forward to them offering sports betting opportunities to our fans in a safe and responsible manner.”
What about DraftKings?
DraftKings is the official daily fantasy sports partner of the Red Sox, and it has previously had signage on the Green Monster. We’ll see what unfolds between the Red Sox and DraftKings moving forward.
Last week, DraftKings became the co-official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball, alongside BetMGM.
