Best Bruins bets to make at DraftKings on Massachusetts launch day, from play-ma.com

Mobile sports betting apps are set to launch in Massachusetts this Friday March 10 at 10 a.m. Among the platforms slated to go live is DraftKings Sportsbook Massachusetts.

DraftKings offers one of the best sports betting apps in the industry, and Massachusetts sports fans will have access to all of its amenities. It is also based in Boston, so it will be setting up shop in its own backyard.

You can bet on various different sports and leagues on DraftKings, but when it launches in Massachusetts later this week, expect a rush of action on Boston Bruins odds.

Once MA mobile sports betting apps are live, here are five NHL and Bruins bets to consider placing on DraftKings MA on launch day.

1. Bruins to win the Stanley Cup (+400)

The Bruins are in the midst of a historic season. They were the first team in the league to reach 100 points, and they did so by a wide margin.

Boston has a well-rounded roster full of veteran talent that is poised to make a run at another Stanley Cup. David Pastrnak has already surpassed the 40-goal mark, while Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron are performing at their usual high levels.

In addition, Linus Ullmark is the current frontrunner for the Vezina Trophy, which is awarded annually to the NHL’s best goaltender.

The Bruins have been a wagon from the jump, and +400 odds on a Stanley Cup victory still offers some value.

2. Bruins to win the Eastern Conference (+250)

If you’re going to bet on the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup, it makes sense to look into their Eastern Conference odds as well.

The East is full of talent, but the Bruins stand out among the rest. They maintain a stranglehold atop the Eastern Conference standings, even after clubs across the league bulked up their rosters prior to the trade deadline.

Boston bolstered their roster as well, adding forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Garnet Hathaway, plus top-four defenseman Dmitry Orlov.

The odds of +250 offer some appeal, especially when you see that Boston’s Eastern Conference odds are only +160 over on Caesars Sportsbook. So, it might not be a bad idea to snag the +250 on DraftKings MA.

3. Bruins vs. Red Wings

The first Bruins game after Friday’s mobile launch is on Saturday at home against the Detroit Red Wings. The odds for the game are not yet available, but they should be posted on launch day. Once they are up, consider backing Boston.

Boston has been incredible at home this season, posting a record of 26-2-3 at TD Garden. The Red Wings are just 13-14-5 on the road, and they have taken a bit of nosedive of late. As of Tuesday, the Wings have lost six in a row overall.

It may not be a bad idea to turn to the puck line (-1.5), as the Bruins figure to be favored on the moneyline.

It’s also worth noting the Bruins took care of business against the Red Wings earlier this season, winning with ease 5-1.

4. Stars to win the Central Division (+120)

It’s surprising to see this bet with plus-money odds. The Dallas Stars have been a consistent team all season long, and they lead the Central Division by three points over the Wild, six points over the Jets and seven points over the Avalanche.

Their top line of Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski is among the best in the league, while Miro Heiskanen is in the Norris Trophy conversation for the league’s top defenseman. Goaltender Jake Oettinger ranks fourth in the NHL in save percentage (.922) and sixth in goals against average (2.36).

The Stars play 11 of their final 18 games on the road, but they have had no problem winning games away from Dallas. They have posted a record of 17-9-8 at home, and 17-8-5 on the road.

5. Avalanche to win the Western Conference (+275)

After winning the Stanley Cup last season, Colorado’s 2022-23 season has been a bit of a roller coaster. They were bit by the injury bug early in the season, and have seen inconsistent results.

However, they are still in line to make the playoffs, and if that happens, anything can happen. They have gotten healthy, and added depth by aquiring Lars Eller and Jack Johnson at the trade deadline.

Plus, Colorado has plenty of playoff and Stanley Cup experience, something that other teams in the West don’t.

In short, this is not a team anyone wants to face in the playoffs. The +275 odds offer tremendous value right now.
