The President of Wynn Boston Harbor, Bob DeSalvio, shared a 10-minute video exclusively with Red Card members. The video showcases the ongoing development of the $2.4 billion resort casino and offers a glimpse into the future, presenting an overview of the completed 33-acre, three-million square foot project.

In the video, DeSalvio expressed the following thoughts.

A new opening date

The casino’s official opening is becoming clearer as construction continues. Initially set for summer, then June, Wynn now aims for June 24, 2019, as the date for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, as stated by DeSalvio.

Despite having hundreds of hotel rooms, availability of rooms is expected to be a concern, particularly during the initial phase. Therefore, the hotel booking option will be offered a complete year prior to the casino’s grand opening.

Water shuttles

DeSalvio mentions in the video that Wynn Boston Harbor is located in Everett, Massachusetts, adjacent to Boston. Positioned on the waterfront, the casino will be situated at the confluence of the Mystic River and Boston Harbor. Wynn is making the most of this prime location.

DeSalvio stated that Wynn acquired three water shuttles that will operate round the clock, ferrying individuals from downtown Boston, the seaport, and the financial district to the casino.

Construction progress

The current state of the building is a five-story structure, but according to DeSalvio, there are plans to add approximately one floor per week. It is anticipated that the entire building will be completed by the end of the year, with the expectation that construction crews will diligently work towards this goal.

The scale of the project is quite impressive. Wynn Boston Harbor spans over 3.1 million square feet and occupies a vast area of 12.5 acres. At present, there are 750 diligent construction and trade workers diligently engaged in various tasks at the site.

  • 700 5-Star guest rooms
  • Meeting and convention space
  • 3,000-car parking garage

Odds and ends

  • The Popeye sculpture by Jeff Coon, which Steve Wynn purchased for $28 million in 2014 and is currently situated at the intersection of Wynn and Encore in Las Vegas, will be relocated to the lobby of Wynn Boston Harbor.
  • According to DeSalvio, Wynn Boston Harbor will offer a diverse range of 12 restaurant and dining choices. These options will encompass a variety of experiences, including fine-dining, casual dining, a sports bar, an oyster bar, a buffet, and more.
  • On the mezzanine level, there will be a nightclub/ultra-lounge measuring 8,000 square feet, which is yet to be named.
  • DeSalvio alluded to the existence of outdoor waterfront amenities without providing specific details. These amenities could encompass a wide range of possibilities, such as outdoor seating for restaurants, wedding and event spaces, swimming pools, or even a beautifully designed walking path.
  • Included in the plan is a lavish five-star spa spanning 20,000 square feet, comparable to the esteemed Wynn and Encore spas in Las Vegas.
  • According to DeSalvio, the company has engaged in discussions with upscale retailers. Patrons visiting Wynn Boston Harbor can anticipate an exceptional retail experience.
