MGM Springfield retail sportsbook: Everything you need to know

Each year, the Super Bowl is the most-bet singular sporting event in the country. Thanks to the recent launch of retail sports betting in Massachusetts, sports fans in the state can now get in on the action.

Bets for Super Bowl LVII can be placed at three Massachusetts casinos. There are hundreds of bets to choose from, and Massachusetts sports bettors now have access to all of them.

But how do you place your bets? What kind of bets are available? Let’s take a closer look at the Super Bowl betting scene in Massachusetts:

Where To Bet On The Super Bowl In Massachusetts

For Massachusetts sports fans, Super Bowl bets can only be placed in person right now. Bets can be placed at MGM Springfield, Encore Boston Harbor, and Plainridge Park Casino.

Encore Boston Harbor has a WynnBET Sportsbook that’s open from 9 a.m. to midnight every day.

MGM Springfield has a BetMGM Massachusetts retail sportsbook that’s open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Plainridge Park Casino has a Barstool Sportsbook that’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

All three facilities also have betting kiosks that you can use to place sports wagers 24 hours a day.

Unfortunately, mobile betting will not be available before the Super Bowl takes place on February 12. MA mobile betting apps are expected to launch in March.

Types Of Super Bowl Bets

US sportsbooks offer a wide range of bets on the Super Bowl. The three most common types of wagers include moneyline, spread, and total bets. But that is just the beginning.

Other types of popular wagers include proposition, or “prop” bets. These types of bets focus in on one aspect of the game, as opposed to the game as a whole. They are typically found in the form of player, team, and game props.

In addition to these common NFL wagers, sportsbooks bring out some interesting and creative bet types for the biggest game of the year. These are referred to as novelty props, and they are a bit more unique than the average NFL wager. Novelty props are typically not available for regular season or playoff NFL games.

Novelty props involve more obscure events at the Super Bowl. Popular examples include the coin toss, color of Gatorade poured on the winning head coach, and total length of the national anthem.

As you can see, there are plenty of options out there. No matter what you are looking to bet on, odds are you can find it in Super Bowl prop bet markets.

Placing Your Bets

You can place your bets using a debit card, linking your bank account, cash, or using other e-wallets sportsbooks partner with. But you cannot use credit cards. That is one of the sports wagering restrictions in Massachusetts. State lawmakers made this provision part of their sports betting bill in an effort to help curtail problem gambling, with residents racking up credit card debt due to a sports betting addiction.

After making your bet(s), just bet sure to keep track of your ticket/bet slip. You will not be able to claim any potential winnings without it!

Unfortunately, most Massachusetts sportsbook welcome bonuses are not available in person. Those will come with the launch of MA mobile betting apps, which are slated to go live in March.

However, the three casinos could have different types of promotions you can enter in-person at the retail sportsbook. When going to place your bets, check for any available promos. And as always, be sure to read the full terms and conditions of each offer.

There are seemingly endless options to consider when it comes to betting on the Super Bowl in Massachusetts. No matter how you choose to do so, always remember to bet responsibly.
